Six paths after high school
- A job with on-the-job training: days to months; the employer pays you while you learn.
- Apprenticeship: 3 to 5 years; paid to learn; little or no tuition.
- Certificate program: weeks to about a year; the cheapest school.
- Two-year degree (associate): 2 years; community college.
- Four-year degree (bachelor's): 4 years; the most expensive path; often loans.
- Military: 4 to 8 years of service; paid and trained; college help after.

The do now, answered
- Nurse: a two-year or four-year degree, plus a state license.
- Electrician: an apprenticeship. Paid from the first summer after graduation. No loans.
- Teacher: a four-year degree, plus a state certificate.
- The rule: more school is not automatically better or worse. It is a trade of years and money for the job you want.

- Pick one career from one of your top three clusters. Write the cluster number.

- Fill every field: three tasks, the path, pay range with the year of the source, a day in the life, the source, the verdict.

Walk the worked example (Devon, dental hygienist) on the handout once. The field students skip is "a day in the life." It is the field that changes minds.
