Keep this sheet in your FACS folder. You need your two letters and two careers on day 39 for the All About Me one-pager, and again in Lesson 2.22.
Teacher key
The items and their letters. Items 1, 7, 13, 19, 25 are R. Items 2, 8, 14, 20, 26 are I. Items 3, 9, 15, 21, 27 are A. Items 4, 10, 16, 22, 28 are S. Items 5, 11, 17, 23, 29 are E. Items 6, 12, 18, 24, 30 are C. Each letter has one item in each block of six, so a student who stops early still gets a fair count.
The 30 items were written for this course. They are not from the O*NET Interest Profiler or any published instrument; the six type names and descriptions are public descriptors (Holland's RIASEC). Say that to students in one sentence: this is a paper quiz in the same six categories the counselors use, and it points, it does not decide.
Ties. Common. The do now (fix, figure out, paint, teach, sell, keep records) maps to R, I, A, S, E, C in that order. If the tie survives, both letters stay and the student reads three paragraphs.
Scoring for daily work. Complete: all 30 answered, grid filled and added correctly, two letters, fit judgments with a word each, two careers with a named strength or interest, values check done. Partial: grid done and two careers but no reasons. Missing: fewer than 30 answered or no letters. Spot check the arithmetic on three grids per table; a wrong count changes the letters.
A "got it" career sentence names a strength or interest, not a feeling. Compare:
- Needs more: "Chef, because I like food."
- Got it: "Chef, because I cook dinner two nights a week without help (Doing strength) and I said yes to items 1, 7, and 25."
