Directions: Part 1 fills in during the slides. Part 2 is two hunts: first in the living room described below, then in this classroom. Find one example of every element in each place and write what it does to the feel of the room. Part 3 is your sketch.

Hunt A: the described living room

Read it twice. Every element is in here at least once.

The living room is long and narrow. Two tall windows on the far wall reach almost to the ceiling, and the afternoon sun comes through them in stripes because of the blinds. The walls are a pale warm gray. A long, low couch in dark blue sits against the left wall, and its cushions are a rough, nubby wool. In front of it is a round wooden coffee table with a smooth, shiny top. On the floor is a rug with a repeating pattern of black and white diamonds. The right wall has a bookshelf that goes from floor to ceiling, packed tight with books of every color. A tall floor lamp with a curved neck stands in the corner by the couch. The corner by the windows is empty, and it is the only open floor in the room. One brick wall behind the bookshelf was left bare and painted white. A single large painting of orange circles hangs over the couch.

Part 3: Rearrange the room

The bedroom on the slide: a bed under the window, a desk facing the wall in the dark corner, a rug in the middle, a tall bookshelf next to the door, and everything pushed to one side. Redraw it so at least three elements change. You may draw your own bedroom instead (no address, no names).
