Reviews Lesson 1.9. Reviews Lesson 1.9 (the Nutrient Sort and the six-column chart) with the lifespan table as round 2. Use it as the two-minute nutrient review at the start of Lesson 1.10 if the exit-card needs-more pile is over a third of the class, and again before the Label Reading Quiz, which has nutrient matching items. Round 1 follows the key: the main pile scores full and an also pile from the key scores half, so milk in Minerals is not a miss; the four cards marked accept-as-main (spinach, peanut butter, almonds, sweet potato) score full in either pile. Grade 6 setting: draw round 1 from the 20 cards without the small 8 and drop the lifespan lines from round 2. Grade 8 setting: all 30 cards in the draw.

Nutrient Sort
A food card appears. Tap its bin: Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats, Vitamins, Minerals, or Water. Then a job line or a body need appears, and you tap the nutrient that does it.
How to play
- Every card goes in a pile; if a card fits two piles, put it between them and write why.
- Carbs for go, protein for grow, fat for stored go and brain, vitamins and minerals run the show, water carries it all.
Done
The ones to study:
Worth knowing by heart:
- The six nutrients and one job each
- Two foods that give each nutrient
- Milk, cheese, and yogurt fit two piles: proteins and minerals (calcium)
- Beans and lentils are a plant protein that is also a carb
- Who needs what: fat for a toddler's brain, carbs and water for the athlete, protein and calcium for the grandparent
