# Slides 01.19: Peer Math Check and MyPlate Check

Lesson 1.19, one day, 11 slides.

## Slide 1: Do now
- A line from a plan: "Shredded cheese, 8 oz bag, $2.49, need 16 oz, cost $2.49."
- Find the mistake.
Notes: Two bags needed, cost $4.98, running total is $2.49 short. Ask how many caught it.

## Slide 2: That mistake is in this room
- It is on at least one plan here.
- Today another team finds it before the store does.
- A second set of eyes catches what the first set stopped seeing.

## Slide 3: The four checks
- 1. The arithmetic: every line and the running total, from line 1.
- 2. The units: every price has one, and the number to buy matches the size.
- 3. The cap: $40 or under; pantry items at $0.
- 4. The plate: four MyPlate groups with real dishes; no rule on the family card broken.
Image: four icons: a calculator, a ruler, a $40 bill with a line under it, a plate.

## Slide 4: How to say it
- Weak: "The math is wrong."
- Strong: "Line 4: two bags needed, cost should be $4.98, total goes to $38.20."
- One thing the plan did well. One specific change. Both written so they can act without asking.
Notes: Ask: what makes the strong comment strong? It says where and what.

## Slide 5: The rules of the check
- Colored pen. Mark, do not fix. Their team decides what to change.
- Taste does not count today. Only the four checks.
- Their family card stays with their plan. Read it.

## Slide 6: Swap
- Team 1 checks Team 2. Team 2 checks Team 3. Team 3 checks Team 1.
- Plans, family cards, and circulars move together.
- Checking roles: Shoppers verify prices; Planner and Materials Manager recalculate; Nutrition Checker runs the plate; Recorder fills the sheet; Presenter writes the comments.
- 14 minutes.
Image: a timer graphic set to 14:00.

## Slide 7: While you check, ask
- Which line did the running total go wrong on?
- Which of the five groups is missing?
- Which rule on their card would you flag, and which dish?

## Slide 8: Return and read
- Plans go back.
- Two minutes of silent reading.
- Then the checking team's Presenter answers questions at your table for two minutes.

## Slide 9: Revise
- Fix what the check found. One change at a time.
- Update the running total.
- Log every change with one sentence.
- Clean check? Find one improvement of your own: a cheaper swap or a missing group.
Notes: 7 minutes. Sign the final total.

## Slide 10: Exit card
- 3 things the check sheet looked at
- 2 changes your team made after feedback, and why
- 1 sentence: what made the feedback you got useful, or not

## Slide 11: Tomorrow
- You write the station card from your plan.
- Ingredients for seven, eight to ten steps, roles, a flowchart, safety reminders.
- I sign it. I shop it. The day after, you cook it.
