| Item | Answer | Points | Standard lines checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | a) honesty and c) family. 1 point each. | 2 | NYS IGLR 1. a) |
| 2 | Any strength the student named on the All About Me one-pager, with a real event from this year as proof (a lab role, the $40 project, the Investor Challenge, a class job). 1 point for the strength, 1 point for proof that is an event, not an adjective. | 2 | NYS IGLR 1. b); NYS FACS Std 3 PI E |
| 3 | b) which kinds of work you tend to enjoy. | 2 | NYS IGLR 1. c); CTE CCO 3. a) |
| 4 | Any sensible link: someone who values family might spend on a gift instead of a game; someone who values health might buy fruit over candy; someone who values fairness might choose a product that treats workers well. 2 points for a value named and a spending choice that follows from it; 1 point for a value with no clear choice. | 2 | NYS IGLR 1. a); NYS IGLR 2. a); CTE FCL 4. b) |
| 5 | b) is the SMART goal. Goal a) is missing M (measurable) and T (time-bound); accept either letter or "specific." 1 point for b), 1 point for a correct missing part. | 2 | NYS IGLR 2. b) |
| 6 | Name the choice; list options; weigh each against what matters; decide; look back. Half a point per step in the right order (3 points for all five in order; 2 points for all five out of order; half a point each otherwise). Accept close wording ("think about what matters," "check how it went"). | 3 | NYS IGLR 2. d); CTE PSI 1. e); NYS FACS Std 3 PI B |
| 7 | Circled: "Save $20 by the end of this month." Underlined: the two-year degree goal. 1 point each. | 2 | NYS IGLR 2. c) |
| 8 | Any two of: time, energy, talent or skills, attention, space, tools or materials, people who help you. 1 point each. Do not accept "money" (the item excludes it). | 2 | NYS IGLR 2. d); NYS FACS Std 3 KI |
| 9 | Needs: rent, groceries. Wants: concert tickets, a video game. Half a point each. | 2 | NYS IGLR 4. b); CTE FCL 4. b) |
| 10 | The $60 was taken out as deductions: taxes (federal, state, Social Security, Medicare) and possibly health insurance or retirement. 2 points for "deductions" or "taxes" with one named; 1 point for "taken out" with nothing named. | 2 | NYS IGLR 4. a); CTE FCL 1. c) |
| 11 | Leaves the account right away: A (debit). Borrow and pay back: B (credit). No record: C (cash). Accept half a point each; round up at 1.5. | 2 | NYS IGLR 4. c); NYS IGLR 4. f) |
| 12 | Who: the house, the market, the exchange, or "the teacher" (whoever ran the game and collected on every trade). Called: a transaction fee, a commission, or a fee. 1 point each. | 2 | NYS IGLR 4. c); CTE FCL 5. a) |
| 13 | Chance of losing value: B (risk). Money gained or lost: C (return). Spreading money: A (diversification). Accept half a point each; round up at 1.5. | 2 | NYS IGLR 4. e); CTE FCL 2. c) |
| 14 | Panic selling. Those traders locked in their losses and missed the recovery, so they usually finished below the traders who held or bought low. 1 point for "panic selling" (accept "selling out of fear"), 1 point for the result. | 2 | NYS IGLR 4. e); CTE FCL 2. a) |
| 15 | Savings account. Reason: it does not lose value in a month; a stock can drop right when you need the money; savings is low risk and the money is there when you need it. 1 point for the circle, 1 point for a reason about risk or time. | 2 | NYS IGLR 4. e); CTE FCL 2. c) |
| 16 | a) 10 times 20 = 200 AQ. b) 10 times 25 = 250 AQ. c) 250 minus 200 = 50 AQ; 50 divided by 200 = 0.25 = 25 percent. 1 point each for a), b), and c) (c needs both the AQ and the percent for the point; half a point for one). Work must be shown; a correct answer with no work earns half. | 3 | NYS IGLR 4. e); CTE FCL 2. c); CDOS 3a Basic Skills |
| 17 | a) reliability and c) teamwork. 1 point each. | 2 | NYS IGLR 3. a); CTE CCO 3. c) |
| 18 | Any of the six with a matching action: reliability (shows up on time every shift); communication (tells the manager the order is wrong before it goes out); teamwork (helps a coworker finish before leaving); problem solving (finds a fix when the register freezes); adaptability (takes a new task without complaint when the schedule changes); honesty (reports a broken plate instead of hiding it). 1 point for a real soft skill, 1 point for an action that shows it. | 2 | NYS IGLR 3. a); CTE CCO 3. c); National FCS 1.2.8 |
| 19 | Electrician: A (apprenticeship). Teacher: B (four-year degree). Registered nurse: C (two-year degree; accept B, since both routes exist, if the student writes "or four-year"). 1 point each. | 3 | NYS IGLR 3. d); NYS IGLR 5. a); CTE CCO 4. a) |
| 20 | Full credit (3): tells Nadia to pick from her own top three, not a friend's; points out that her two letters and her Yes clusters (Health Science, Human Services) and her love of working with kids all point the same way; tells her to research one career in those clusters (for example pediatric nurse, child care director, school counselor) with a source; uses two of the required terms correctly. 2 points: the right advice with one term or a weak reason. 1 point: general advice ("do what you like") with no link to the unit. Three to five sentences; do not take points for length if the content is there. | 3 | NYS IGLR 1. c); NYS IGLR 5. a); CTE CCO 2. d); NYS FACS Std 3 PI E; CDOS 1 |

**Total: 44 points.**

Scoring notes:
- Item 16 is the only math item. A calculator is allowed on it. The numbers use the ClassroomStreet currency (AQ) and a venture name from the simulation; if the class ran a different version, change the name, not the numbers. [Sal: confirm the currency label matches what your students saw on screen this year.]
- Item 6 is the decision model check. The five-step wording is the same in every unit (name the choice, list options, weigh each against what matters, decide, look back).
- Item 20 is the scenario and the short written response.
- Items 2 and 18 accept any true answer; grade the proof, not the choice.
- One retake after a review, best score counts, per the grading plan.
- Grade 6 version: omit items 16 and 20 and score out of 38, or keep all twenty and allow the extra time. Grade 8 stretch: item 20 asks for two examples with numbers (for example, a pay range and years of school for the career Nadia should research).
- ELL: a word bank for items 11, 13, and 19 is built into the items; a bilingual dictionary is allowed; items may be read aloud.
- Growth measure: compare items 6, 13, and 17 to the students' Lesson 2.1 do now (values), the Topic 2.4 pre-simulation vocabulary check, and the Lesson 2.20 do now. [Sal: if the Unit 2 writers put a unit pre-assessment in Lesson 2.1, use those item numbers instead.]
