# Calendar 00: Welcome to the FACS Room

Unit 0, Launch. 5 periods of 40 minutes, days 1 to 5 of the year, marking period 1. One teaching week. One cell per period: the lesson code and title, then what happens that day. CHECK marks the two things collected on day 5. There are no LAB or PROJECT days in Unit 0.

This calendar is written in day numbers and teaching weeks, not dates. The columns are the five meetings of each teaching week; a holiday pushes every later day back one meeting. Map the day numbers onto your school's calendar; the day numbers and the order do not change.

## Counts

- Lessons: 5 (0.1 to 0.5), one day each.
- Topic day counts: 0.1 five (days 1 to 5). Total 5.
- LAB days: 0. PROJECT days: 0.
- CHECK days: 1 (day 5: the signed agreement and the pre-assessment). Both are collected, neither is graded. A student absent on day 5 signs the agreement and takes the pre-assessment during the do now of Lesson 1.1 on day 6.
- What carries forward: the five-step decision model (every project), the reset cue and role cards (every lab), the team norms (reread before Lab 1 on day 16), the pre-assessment tallies (Lessons 1.1, 1.5, 1.9, 1.10, 1.16, and the Unit 1 Test growth measure on items 1, 11, and 13).
